Today in the One Year Bible, we read about the cost of following Jesus. We read this in Luke 9:51-10:12. Jesus makes it very clear that following Him is not going to be easy.
So if you think that being a Christian is going to be a walk in the park, it's important to think about it more seriously. Following Him will cost you everything. He demands nothing less than all of you. You might have to give up something very important to you. You might have to give up everything important to you.
Now, the FACT of the matter is that you're not giving up anything for no reason. He makes some very bold promises to us in the New Testament... including that if we DO give everything up to follow Him, we will receive back ten times as much in this life... and by the way, we'll also get eternal life. It's definitely, no doubt worth it.
But counting the cost is something we must take seriously. Life following Jesus might be tough. It will be challenging. It will push you outside of your comfort zones. And it will all be worth it in the end.
God, please help us to count the cost of following You, and help us to make the right decision.
