setting the world on fire

Today Jesus tells us that He wants to set the whole world on fire in our reading from the One Year Bible, in Luke 12:35-59.

And He DID begin that fire that streaked around the globe, transforming the hearts of men. But the fire has grown cold in many parts of the world, especially in Europe and here in America. It's our job to fan those flames. To get the fire started once more. Like Billy Joel, we can say that we didn't start the fire. But this fire is one that we want to continue.

The fire of the Holy Spirit pouring holiness and love into our hearts. Making the world a place we delight to give to future generations. How will you fan those flames today?

God, thanks for setting the world on fire with Your love in Jesus's time. Help us to bring those holy, loving flames back to life.
