measureless

Today's reading from A Year with the Church Fathers gives us St. Ephrem the Syrian talking about doing everything with the sign of the cross. And the sign of the cross IS a great blessing. Speaking the blessing of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is something that makes everything better, as it involves God in it.

But the thing from today's reading that stuck with me was when he talks about the "measureless mercies" that God has for us. And that's one of the best, most powerful teachings of Christianity. That God's mercy is boundless... it endures forever. No matter how many times you've sinned... no matter what horrible thing you've done... God's mercy is inexhaustible. You can ALWAYS come back to Him and ask for forgiveness, and He will ALWAYS forgive you and bring you back to Him.

This gives us hope. And, when we really think about it, it helps us realize how completely in love God is with us. He loves us more than we can comprehend.

So, I encourage you today to put all of your trust in Him. Don't hold back. Don't be afraid. His love for you surrounds you on every side, lifts you up from below, and covers you above from the arrows of the enemy. He wraps you up in His love, and He will never let you go.

God, thank You for the love that we can trust in completely.
