with Him, in Him, through Him

Lewis talks about the Trinity today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He tells us about how God is bringing us TO Him, through the Holy Spirit, by way of Jesus. We see this in Romans 11:36 when Paul says that from Him, through Him, and for Him are all things. That's pretty profound. ALL THINGS... are from Him, through Him, and for Him. We could just sit and absorb that for hours.

But it also hearkens back to Narnia. When two of the kids are talking about Narnia one day, and find their way in... then they come to Aslan and He tells them that He called them to Narnia for a mission. They say there must be some mistake, because He didn't call them, THEY tried to come to Narnia on their own. And He said that they would not have called to Him unless He had first called to them.

It is Him calling us to Himself. It is Him within us calling back. And it is Him that makes it possible for us to come to Him.

Surrounded by Him on all sides like that, how can we fail?

Yet we know we can. So let us ask Him to help us over our stupid sins and selfishness, so we can respond to the three-fold calling and enter into a life beyond our greatest imagination.

Thanks, God, for surrounding us.

If by chance, there is someone reading this blog who has never read Narnia, now the time. It will chance your life.
