in common

Lewis tells us about what we believers have in common today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He says that throughout the Christian churches of various stripes, we find people who are very similar. These, he says, are the ones close to Jesus.

I think we find this outside the church, too. Even those in other religions, or those who profess no religion at all. People who love are usually finding common ground with other people who love. Rumi, of the Sufi tradition, is a great example of someone who loves with all of his heart...and so finds much in common with others who love.

Unfortunately, we find the same thing true with hate. Members of Westboro Baptist Church sound alot like the KKK and ISIS when they spout their hated for other people.

Those of us who love, let us pray for those who hate. It's a terrible, lonely place to be full of hatred.

God, thank You for Your love and for the fellowship of others who love like You do.
