beyond justice

Lewis talks about vengeance in today's selection from A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He points to the reality that vengeance is part of our desire for something good...that something being justice.

But God calls us beyond justice, to love and forgiveness. He calls us to be bigger than the law...to live in grace, and give grace to everyone we meet.

So when someone treats you badly, love them. When you're worried you'll be taken for granted, love anyway. Even when they don't say they're sorry, forgive them.

After all He's done for me, how can I be selfish? His great example of love inspires me to love like He does.

Thank You, God, for calling us beyond justice.
