Lots of good readings today. Daniel and his friends become some of the most powerful people in Babylon, after Jerusalem is sacked by Babylon. They make the most of their situation, and rise to power. And then the king asks the impossible... and no one can deliver it. Except God, of course. Because nothing is impossible with God. So Daniel asks God for the answer to the impossible question, and God gives him the answer.
Then in the NT... Peter tells us that Jesus went and preached to the souls in prison... and he's referring to those who disobeyed God during the time of Noah. Among others, probably. And those people deserved what they got, right?
Well, there are people in prison today who deserve what they got, too. But remember what Jesus said... "Thanks for visiting Me when I was in prison." And when they asked when that was, He said "What you do to the least of your brothers... you do to Me."
So we need to pray for those in prison. We need to visit them. We need to love them. Do they deserve to be there? Most of them do, maybe some don't. But that's not what Jesus said. He said to visit them, love them... because in doing so, we're visiting Him and loving Him.
Don't forget them.
God, thanks for reminding us to take care of those in need... even those who are guilty and in prison.
