believe it or not

Today's readings: Ezekiel 3:16-6:14, Hebrews 4:1-16, Psalm 104:24-35, Proverbs 26:27

So when we take the verse from the Psalms today that says "The LORD takes pleasure in all he has made" and we read it in light of Jesus's teaching that not even a little sparrow falls to the ground without His noticing, and you are worth more than many sparrows... we see that God, the creator of the universe, knows who you are. He is aware of what you're doing as you read this blog right now. And He delights in you.

That doesn't mean He necessarily delights in everything we do. Sure, we mess up. We blow it. We're silly and selfish sometimes (much of the time, if you're anything like me). But think about how parents feel about their children. Sure, they do dumb things. But they still delight in them as people. They love them. They want the best for them. And every little thing they do brings joy to their parents, even the simplest things.

That's a glimpse at how God feels about you. He delights in every little thing you do, even the simplest things. He loves the way you smile at a friend, the way you greet each new day (either grumpy like me, or cheerful like crazy people) :)

He delights in you.

Thank You, God, for delighting in me. Please teach me to delight in You, too.
