never

Today's readings: Jer 26:1-27:22, 2 Thess 3:1-18, Psalm 85:1-13, Prov 25:16

Paul reminds us of something important today. Because, as you know, it can sometimes be hard to keep doing the right thing. It can be hard to keep loving that person who gets on your nerves. It can be hard to turn the other cheek when people hurt you.... even when they hurt your feelings. It can be hard to find the positive when someone you know is only negative all of the time. It can be a struggle!

But God tells us to not grow weary doing good. What does that mean exactly? Does it mean we shouldn't feel tired? Of course not. We're human. We're going to feel tired. But when you think "I'm tired of being good! I'm not doing it anymore! I give up!" That's what Paul is talking about. Don't "grow weary" and give up.

That's one of the most important lessons in life. Winston Churchill said it very simply, and very powerfully, when he stood up to give an address at a school in England. He went to the podium, and while pounding his fist on the podium with each word, he said, "Never give up. Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never give up!!" And then he sat down. As you know, this was coming from the man who stared down Hitler.

And it's great advice for us today. Never give up. As long as you keep getting back up again, keep trying, keep putting one foot in front of the other... you'll make it.

Just don't give up.

Thank You, God, for giving us strength to get up time and again...
