Jesus, Savior of all men

Today's readings: Jer 33:1-34:22, 1 Tim 4:1-16, Psalm 89:1-13, Prov 25:23-24

Paul says something today that might puzzle us. He says that Jesus is the savior of all men, especially of believers. What do you suppose that means?

Well, one thing it means is that when Jesus died and came back to life, He didn't just redeem the people who believe in Him. He redeemed everyone. And not just people, He redeemed the whole universe. When Adam and Eve sinned, their sin affected the whole universe. And when Jesus came back to life, He redeemed the whole universe.

What does that mean for us men? Well, it means that God is at work in our lives, helping us to know Him and to be saved from our stupidity and selfishness. He is at work in everyone's lives... not just those who believe in Him.

Does that mean everyone will be saved? We'll see. I hope so. But it definitely means that He desires for all of us to be saved. He is working in our lives to that end.

But also remember that, as the pic above says, our eternal lives start now. I've mentioned this before, but put it in light of today's verse... God is at work, saving all of us, not just for Heaven and eternity, but for NOW and continuing through eternity.

Pretty amazing, huh?

God, thank You for working in our lives... all of our lives.
