without love

today's readings: Leviticus 13:1-59, Mark 6:1-29, Psalm 39:1-13, Proverbs 10:10

so today something pretty cool popped out at me. Jesus is in His hometown. and He is willing to do miracles and heal people, like He's been doing everywhere. but the people in His town think to themselves "isn't this Jesus? don't we know His family? He's not some great prophet... He's just a local guy."

and because of their doubt (which amazes Jesus... not something you really wanna amaze Jesus with) He is not able to do many miracles. I like how He can still do SOME miracles, because nothing is impossible with God. but He's not able to do very many because of their doubt.

and I realized that the reason they doubt is because they are familiar with Him. and familiarity breeds contempt. this is due to a lack of love.

if we love our families and the people we know in our daily lives, then we accept that God can work through them. we see the fact that God works in mysterious ways, and can use even the asses in our lives (like Balaam's) to speak to us. so that very love allows us to believe in the things that He uses to speak His grace and love and peace and joy into our lives.

God, please help me to love the people You've placed in my life, so that when the time comes, I will see your face in theirs.

Hummmmmm...it was an interesting reading and your insight was good. But to expound upon your thoughts I also saw something else. Intrigue, mystery, and familiarity can cause doubts in others that we know well. We have learned their thoughts and "attitudes" and beliefs so we become judges of those around us. "How could He be who He says He is? We know him?" Also, the closer we get to someone the more we see their ( our belief) faults. Once again showing us that no one is perfect except one, who his neighbors did not have faith in Him.
God please help me to look for the good in others as I hope they can do with me, as seen our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
