hard hearts

today's readings: Leviticus 4:1-5:19, Mark 2:13-3:6, Psalm 36:1-12, Prov 10:1-2

in today's reading, Jesus looks around with sadness and anger at the hard hearts of those who were watching to see what He would do on the Sabbath.

today we find people doing the same thing... watching to see if people will sin so they can report them, so they can gossip about them, so they can think less of them. this, instead of loving them.

God, please soften my heart, that I might love your children the way you do - with forgiveness.

Amen Jeff. Loving enemies I find is most difficult. But I have learned to accept different people and still dislike their sins at the same time. After all, we are all sinners and there is only one without sin. Thanks be to God for He shall open the book of life.

Brian said that in Rome they put the ashes on the head not the forehead. This was odd to me but the reading during Mass this morning was fasting with a clean face not to show others that you are fasting. Pray in the closet not before men. ( as the Pharisees) how it must sadden Him today to see us always pointing out others faults to justify our own behavior. Create in me a clean heart that I don't brag about. Amen
