to show His glory

today's readings: Exodus 13:17 - 15:18, Matt 21:23-46, Psalm 26:1-12, Prov 6:16-19

today the thing that stood out to me is that God seems kind of harsh in the OT reading. He hardens Pharaoh's heart yet again, so that he and all his armies follow after the Israelites... and then drown in the sea. it's tempting to think "wow, God. did you have to do that?"

but we learn in the NT that He asks us to trust Him. He knows what's best, always. He sees the big picture, when we only see the little one before us.

help me trust you when I can't see the big picture in my own life, God.

Well, I see the Exodus differently, but I do know that when I pray daily and give the day to God, all will go well. When I try to take control back (which is my nature) everything starts to unravel. Then I ask for forgiveness and seek His face.

The difference between God and us is that he can understand our heart and who we belong to. Pharaoh followed a different god, thus not under the mercy of God. Many times if we as humans try to see goodness in OT times and I suppose today's times, we can and do step away from Gods plan and his knowing. Just my thoughts.
