God our Fighter

today's readings: Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalm 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12

today was a rough day. two of my close friends lost family members. ISIS released a video showing their beheading 21 Christians. and the enemy has been attacking my faith all day. I've been facing temptation to sin. mass wasn't all that great. crummy day all around.

but thankfully, God knew it was coming. He had the Psalm all picked out for me today. yes, things are crappy right now. yes, the world is unpleasant sometimes. but He is fighting for us. He is "contending with those who contend with me". He's fighting the enemy on my behalf. so I can trust Him to win.

the enemy is much older, wiser, and stronger than I am. but God is so much more than the enemy is, it's no comparison. fortunately my faith is in Him, and not in me.

please be my contender, God.

I think all those evil things in the world today are indicators that the end of days is near and we Christians need a renewal of faith. If so, Jesus will return and every knee will bow to His glory. Evil will be defeated.
