two little things

today's readings are Genesis 23:1 - 24:51, Matthew 8:1-17, Psalm 9:13-20, Proverbs 3:1-6

God is doing amazing things in both the OT and NT today. he shows Isaac that Rebekah is to be his wife... the very first person they meet when they come to the new village. and Jesus is healing people right and left... and responds with amazement at the faith of the centurion. amazement! how cool would it be to amaze Jesus with our faith.

and then in Proverbs, we see that old familiar verse that so many people quote, and rightly so. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

but the verse before it is what caught my eye today. "Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart."

loyalty and kindness. two virtues that are in short supply today. it's so easy to talk about people behind their backs, and criticize those in authority over us. it's so easy to give someone a rude answer, or a "piece of our mind" when they say something stupid or hurt our feelings.

loyalty and kindness. let's write them deep within our hearts, and practice them today. it makes us just a little more like God.

Exciting reads today and you nailed it with your thoughts. Loyalty and kindness two virtue that we need to see in the world today. It can start with just a few people who are reading these words.
