the readings this week are from Genesis 16:1-18:15, Matthew 6:1-24, Psalm 7:1-17, and Proverbs 2:1-5
as always, there was much to find in today's reading. but the thing that stuck with me was found in both the OT and NT reading. the idea of God being "the One who sees me".
Hagar was badly treated by Sarai, due to jealousy. she r-u-n-n-o-f-t and was basically miserable. God saw her in her misery and had pity on her. she was shocked that God would pay attention to someone as "insignificant" as she was.
I feel that way myself pretty often. it's hard to grasp that He listens to my prayers. there are so many people on this planet, and so many who are suffering. He hears us all. He sees us all. it boggles the mind, but He treats every one of us as though we're the only person alive.
I guess that's what omniscient and omnipresent mean. but it still blows my mind. like Hagar, i'm nonplussed that "He sees me"

He hears me and sees me. All knowing and all loving, caring for me even though I do not deserve. This reminds me of a song by Carmen, Fear not my child, I'm with you always.
