help thou my unbelief

today's readings are Genesis 44:1 - 45:28, Matthew 14:13-36, Psalm 18:37-50, and Proverbs 4:11-13

so we get to the fun part of Joseph's story today... where he reveals who he is, and yells to his brothers "don't fight along the way!" as they go back to tell their father the good news that Joseph was alive.

then in the NT reading... Jesus performs two miracles that are really hard to wrap your brain around. it's difficult for me to envision the feeding of the 5,000. I just don't know the logistics of how He did it. did He just keep tearing the bread into bits and there were no end to the bits? I just don't get it.

but the take home lesson for me this week is in the picture. first Jesus does this amazing thing... walking on the water out to the boat. then Peter shows amazing faith by asking to walk on the water WITH Him... something none of the other disciples had the guts to do.

then he climbs out of the boat and walks on the water! the only person (that I know of) besides Jesus who ever did this. he then sees the big waves and wind and storm and kinda freaks out (understandably so)... and Jesus says "Why do you have so little faith?"

so LITTLE FAITH??

I can only pray that He gives me a little faith... since it's clearly more than I have now.

God, please be patient with us and our little faith, and please help it to grow.

Faith, we all have different ideas of what it means. And how much we need and how little we feel we have. In the OT readings Joseph is an excellent example of faith. Thru all that has happened to him good and bad by faith he accepts and continues to follow God.
We as Chistian Americans have a disadvantage to many other countries. We have a wonderful place to live, jobs, friends, freedom to worship, food, a place to live and on and on. We consider our problems sooooo huge but we think that we can handle everything ourselves. We have "faith" in ourselves and our country. Where's the need for faith in God?
Faith is knowing that you can't handle a situation and only God can. And believe in Him to accept and thank God for His protection, help and guidance.
God give me faith to always come to you and have a relationship with you as Joseph had.
