conan

so i saw conan the barbarian tonight. i went in with really low expectations, and halfway through the movie i was pretty sure the movie had failed even those low expectations.

but then the movie rallied and the ending was not that bad - about what i expected.

the scenery and set design were great. way better than i expected. the acting was exactly what i expected: cheesy and overdone.

the writing was even worse than i expected, and i was expecting it to be bad. it was almost unbearably bad.

my fav part of the entire movie was when this one thief stands up and yells "stand down, fools!" in a voice that sounds remarkably like chris rock, even though he has a middle eastern accent the rest of the movie. i laughed out loud after he said it, and then continued laughing for a while afterward.

anyway, i don't recommend seeing this movie in the theater. i don't recommend seeing it in 3D. it's a renter at best, and that's only if you're in the mood for some brainless barbarian violence and "humor".

Well, I actually would rather go see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Probably not happening, either :/
