free to be wrong

Lewis points out something profound today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He tells us that we are free when we realize that we've been wrong. That's what repentance is, after all...admitting you're wrong and starting again in the right direction. The nice thing is, we're all wrong. No one gets it right on the first try. There's no pressure to be perfect the first time you make the attempt. We all fail. His grace is for everyone.

So accept the gift of His forgiveness, and live in the freedom of being wrong. That's where joy begins...when we realize, and then admit, that we've been wrong all along. And then accepting His help in learning to live right.

God, thank You for the freedom to be wrong.

It so makes life much easier. When you learn to live this way. Forgiveness is freedom.
